What are the Oracle LMS or GLAS audit scripts?

They are read-only SQL scripts Oracle's licensing team runs against a database's data dictionary, chiefly the feature-usage views, plus a server worksheet. The output becomes Oracle's compliance measurement.

What is DBA_FEATURE_USAGE_STATISTICS?

A data-dictionary view that records the first and last use and a usage count of every tracked database feature. It is populated automatically and is the primary source Oracle reads for options like Partitioning and Advanced Compression.

Why does the script report options I never bought?

Because the views record usage, not intent, and never clear a flag. Defaults like AWR trigger the Diagnostics Pack, and a single test object leaves a permanent flag. Many reported flags are contestable false positives.

Is the measurement the same as an invoice?

No. It is an opening position built from raw usage flags. Every flag is contestable on evidence, and reading the views first lets you clear false positives before Oracle prices them.

What is the difference between an Oracle review and an audit?

A review is voluntary; a formal audit is invoked under your contract's audit clause with a notice period. Confirm which you are in before running or sharing the collection script.
