Salesforce's Calendar Is Setting Your Price. Take It Back.

Salesforce closes its year on 31 January, and the discount authority available in the last three weeks of that quarter does not exist in May. This brief lays out the full engagement sequence: when to open, how long to stay silent, which cloud to negotiate first, and what a Q4 outcome should look like in numbers.

What you will take away
  • Salesforce's 31 January fiscal year end concentrates discount authority into a two to three week window; the same deal reviewed in their Q2 typically clears 8 to 15 points less discount off list.
  • The default renewal ask is a 7 to 10 percent annual uplift stacked on a list price that already rose 9 percent in 2023 and 6 percent in August 2025. Unmanaged, a 7 percent escalator adds $214,900 to a $1M base over three years and $644,700 on $3M.
  • Silence is a priced tactic, not a mood. A disciplined 21 to 35 day non-response window inside Salesforce's Q4 is the cheapest pressure available; the same silence in their Q1 costs you time and buys nothing.
  • "This discount expires at quarter end" is true about the approval and false about the price. Model the real cost of letting it lapse: in most cases it is a 90 day delay and a re-approval, not a permanent loss of the concession.
  • Sequence multi-cloud renewals so the cloud with the weakest competitive alternative is negotiated last. Roughly 40 percent of Tableau buyers who accepted a bundled Salesforce deal overpaid against a standalone path.
